Usage

Whenever you make a change to GINware's settings or your masternode configurations, please remember to hit the orange Save button to commit your changes.

Checking your GIN balance

1. Choose the Wallet button on the main menu.

2. Wait for GINware to refresh transactions from the GIN network (this may take a few seconds).

The balance for each of your accounts should be listed right underneath the respective account name, in the left column.

To check balances for masternode addresses only, change the view option to View As: Masternode Address (top-left corner).

Receiving GIN

To begin receiving GIN with your hardware wallet:

1. Choose the Wallet button on the main menu. The list in the top-left corner should show View As: Wallet Account.

2. Select an account to receive GIN with, in the column on the left. These accounts can be organised however you wish (e.g. one for savings, one for daily transactions, etc.).

Tip: To add a new account, right-click an account and choose Add account. To rename an existing account, right-click and choose Set label.‌

3. Click the > arrow to the left of an account to reveal its addresses. These are the GIN receiving addresses associated with that particular account.

Tip: Used addresses are shown here in black font, while unused addresses are shown here in green font. Choosing unused addresses is preferred, for privacy/security.

If a used address is incorrectly shown as unused (or vice-versa), please clear the wallet cache with Tools -> Clear Wallet Cache in the main GINware window.

Note: A used address whose balance falls to 0 (after sending all the coins it holds) may be automatically hidden from the address list for convenience.

4. To receive coins with an address, right-click it and choose Copy address to copy it to your computer's clipboard. You can give this address to other people, and they can use it to send GIN straight to your hardware wallet.

Always check your address: Before giving an address to someone, please verify that an address onscreen is truly on your hardware wallet.

This prevents scenarios where a compromised computer can trick you into using an attacker's address, instead of an address that you own.

To do this, right-click the address and choose Check address on device, then check if the address shown on your hardware wallet's screen matches the one on your computer screen.

  • To set a name for / rename an address, right-click the address and choose Set label.

  • To show additional addresses, right-click an address and choose Reveal next fresh address.

Sending GIN

To begin sending GIN with your hardware wallet:

1. Choose the Wallet button on the main menu.

2. If you want to simply move masternode rewards without touching your other GIN, change the View As: option in the top-left corner to Masternode Address. Otherwise, set it to Wallet Account.

We will proceed with Wallet Account, though the steps are near identical for both methods.

3. If viewing as Wallet Account, on the left-hand side, click to highlight the account that you want to send coins from. If you want to select a specific address instead of a whole account, simply highlight that address.

If viewing as Masternode Address, on the left-hand side, highlight the masternodes that you want to send coins from. You can Select All to select all masternodes at once, or use the Ctrl/Cmd and Shift keys to manually multi-select.

4. The inputs received with the selected account/addresses should now show up on the right-hand side.

Now select the coin inputs to use for sending. If you don't mind which ones are used, simply choose Select All.

By default, using collateral outputs of registered masternodes as inputs is disabled, to prevent accidentally breaking running masternodes.

To send such coins anyway, please uncheck the ⬜ Hide saved masternodes' collateral transactions checkbox. This will make all transactions visible and spendable.

5. In the panel at the bottom, check the ⬜ Use InstantSend option if you like (slightly higher fee). Then enter your desired destination address in the Address field, and the amount you wish to send in the value field. Click the up-arrow button on the right of the value box to send all coins available with your selected inputs.

When done, click Sign Transaction to start sending the coins.

6. You should soon see a message asking to confirm the transaction on your hardware wallet. Please check your hardware wallet's screen, visually verify the transaction details, then approve the transaction.

7. Once the transaction has been signed, GINware will show a summary window. This gives you an opportunity to review the transaction before it is broadcast to the GIN network. Advanced users can click Show Details to see the raw transaction information.

Click Send Transaction to finish sending your coins!

Backup your configuration

  • Custom connection configurations (Settings -> GINcoin Network)

  • Masternode configurations (all fields for all masternodes)

This does not back up your:

  • Custom address labels
